History

In approximately the year 2000, Lyndon Piddington started a small choir in Thebarton SA and led a smaller group of friends in singing in the Adelaide Hills at Wistow. Both groups grew and had their own names (Tongue and Groove and Eden Song). Inevitably they learned the same repertoire, and so began to perform together. Thus began Umbrella A Cappella.

Generally the choir sings “a cappella” (meaning unaccompanied), however occasionally we sing with accompaniment. The Umbrella part of our name attempts to describe our varied repertoire. We sing works from many periods of history in many styles and from a variety of ethnic backgrounds.
